Supporting on-farm research

Hi, I'm Daniel Kindred. I've spent the past 15 years developing approaches to support on-farm research wih ADAS.  I'm now independent and  developing the Agronomy Research Circle (ARC) at www.thearc.farm to support on-farm research to understand what works on-farm, through shared explanations, evidence, experimentation and exchange. Through the ARC we connect researchers, advisors, technologists, farmers and facilitators who can help with ADOPT projects.

Having been a co-founder of YEN, Agronomics and Farm-PEP at ADAS I've been looking forward to the arrival of the ADOPT programme for several years. I'm registered as a facilitator and I'm keen to support any farmers or groups looking to put together proposals, especially where testing agronomic practices and technologies.

I've developed an ARC software tool for managing and monitoring on-farm field trials with satellite imagery from Data Farming. Its at https://arc.datafarming.com and its free.

I can get involved in projects in three capacities:

  • As a Facilitator - helping write proposals under the Support grants
  • As a sub-contractor providing support, tools and guidance in managing on-farm trials through the ARC platform
  • As a Research Partner playing a co-ordinating role in the project testing ideas, innovations, products or practices of joint interest.

I'm looking to be part of ADOPT projects especially with an agronomy focus.  I'd like us to form a Crop Nutrition group testing approaches to reach better nutrient management decisions, and test interesting products.  I'd also like to help with a project to test a range of interesting biostimulants on farm. Let me know if you'd like to be involved, especially if you are a farmer who is looking to play a leading role in an ADOPT project.
