Kate Storer

I am a Principal Research Scientist in the Crop Physiology team at ADAS, based at the High Mowthorpe Office in North Yorkshire. I joined ADAS in 2013 after completing my PhD at the University of York on plant-soil interactions. The overall aim of my research is to improve crop performance in a sustainable manner. My main interests include crop nutrition and pest thresholds. I have been involved in several projects working on nitrogen use in wheat, oilseed rape and barley, I manage the AHDB Recommended List variety trials at High Mowthorpe, I led the AHDB biostimulants review in 2016 and a recent review on biostimulants for Defra. I also work closely with other teams within ADAS, for example in developing pest thresholds with entomology colleagues. 

I have managed and/or worked on a variety of projects assessing crop performance including both small and large plot field trials, glasshouse/polytunnel studies as well as developing skills in handling large datasets and developing models through an understanding of crop physiology and nutrition.

• Crop tolerance to pests

Qualifications

• PhD in plant-soil interactions (University of York).
• BSc (1st Class hons) in biology with a Year in Industry (University of York).
